I have a Fobus paddle hostler for both of my Walthers( PPK/S & PPS) . I find them to be the most comfortable holsters I own. It’s much more comfortable that any of my IWB holsters. And the price, you can’t beat it. I always CC with this holster and have never had anyone comment on being able to tell I’m carrying.

Part of what you're seeing is related to how far out the Fobus holsters hang.

I worked with someone who carried a G19 in a Raven Concealment Phantom ON the belt holster daily, concealed by nothing more than a T-Shirt.

I only noticed because I knew exactly what I was looking for. The raven holds the gun nearly as close to your body as if you were in an IWB.

I tried open carry for a while. Mostly it just got me looked at funny. I did have the same issue as you with bumping it into things and that made me nervous. I don't feel very secure OC'ing as it feels like anyone who wants to snatch it could easily see where it was. Now I carry a Taurus Mil-Pro .45 in a Don Hume leather holster. It fits perfectly between my Hanes and my beltline. Best holster I ever had. Well rounded so there's no snags, and a really strong belt clip on the outside for under the clothes wear. Now my weapon is nice and snug and the smooth outside of the leather even keeps it from printing against my clothes.

It's not so much an open carry issue as it is a holster design issue. Paddle holsters, even good ones (sorry, I don't consider the Fobus to be a good one, personally) simply stick out further. If you want to OC, a nice leather pancake holster or belt slide will hold the gun much tighter to the body, and lend themselves much better to serving as concealment holsters when you feel the urge to cover up.

:+1: I don't really like my Fobus but, it has it's purpose for a few months out of the year.
