Some good suggestions!
SVT40, Browning Auto 5 and Remington Model 8 are all on my rather lengthy wish list. You can't go wrong with a nice Model of 1903 or 1903A3 either.
Then, there is the Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mark I which can still be had for a reasonable price point. That cock-on-close action will surprise you, lightning fast and smooth as butter!
Winchester 1907 or 1910. I love 'em both. Maybe a Luger or P38, then M1, M1 Carbine. Now if you want to a collectable that will be a true investment, pick up a nice Colt Thompson or a WWII era Thompson. Best investments of any gun I have ever bought.

Rock-Ola or Winchester M1 Carbines?
Always kinda had a soft spot for the AR180 myself
Does IBM cut the mustard for the carbines ?

Savage 99 in .300 Savage or .250-3000.
The later being more rare than the former. What a honey-pie of a rifle, too, IF you can find one.
I'd also take one in .243 or .308, too.
The .358 Win Savage 99s seem to be the most rare...... and priced accordingly.
