Isn't it obvious? None of those people, Jesus, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, were popular during the time they were doing their work. They were reviled and criticized byt the establishment during their time. It was only after the effects of their work were evaluated and accepted did they become popular. The people who gained power and popularity throught their rhetoric and appearance and facility for language before the fruits of their labor had been harvested are a better example. Those people no longer have our admiration and our word for their common knowledge negates any positives found in the word, "fame." We refer to this type as "infamous."
