I am simply saying that you should place your complaint where it belongs. You want illegal aliens gone, and you're angry that this president doesn't. That's the root of the issue so let's not focus on distractions. We'd all be glad if he chose to ignore laws we considered to be unjust. Rule of law has little to do with it.
I think you're missing a component of the ire. He is favoring the illegal over the legal. He is holding conversations with individuals who have no claim to his audience while those who have legitimate grievances are ignored.

I really have no idea what you're trying to say here. First, .gov doesn't have rights so I have no idea what you mean about that. The Constitution defines specific rights that the states can't infringe upon. The rest is left up to the states per 10A.

Yes, but this is not how you framed your argument prior. Citizens have rights beyond those de facto listed in the Constitution.

Really? Can you post a link to our list of rights?

Straw man. The existence of such a link has no bearing on the existence of those rights.

But before we go any further down this rabbit hole, I'd like to be sure of your position. Is it your contention that we have no rights beyond those explicitly enumerated in the Constitution?

You're the one making the contention that we have rights not listed in the Constitution, so if you can't post a source which lists those rights, then at least tell us what you think they are.

Unless of course you're just making this up as you go along and don't really have a list.

If you think I'm "wrong", then cite the part of the Constitution that says otherwise.

You just restated what I said... just admit your wrong and move on friend, certainly you will tire of this.

I have the right to do what I want when I want how I want and with whomever I damn well please. Exceptions to this include only those actions which cause harm through my use of force against someone else.

Yeah, so what? Are you saying that includes the "right" to force me to pay for your welfare because you're a drug abuser who can't hold a job, or the "right" to force me to recognize your homosexual marriage?

If you're not saying that, then we're on the same page.

You need to go back and read all the posts in this thread before you jump into it.

I don't give a flying donkey what you do with your life, but don't tell me I have to pay for your welfare or recognize your homosexual marriage as Steve, Hornydal, and Rambone are advocating.

And don't be such a drama queen about everything. You and I probably agree on 99% of things, so lighten up.

Now this is a very legitimate complaint. A much better one than griping about the 'rule of law'.

I gave you the "list" and now you have to change the subject. How typical.

So you claim. Many folks smarter than you disagree.

    Absolutely, yes.

And with that statement I agree to a point.
The big boy chair should be held to a higher standard. Observe the rule of law period. That is how it is supposed to be anyway.

Yet another thing he has done that has disgraced our nation. I cant believe the amnesty he did by executive fiat did not lead to impeachment.

    Hey Michelle!!!

For the second time in my life I am ashamed of the voters of my country.

That is what we get for not cultivating our own crops though> America is paying for its sins.

I started this thread, and there has been a fair amount of dissing my statement about the "rule of law." I stand by my comment. The president is supposed to be a leader, follow the law, and set the right example. There are plenty of laws I disagree with, but I would not cheer the president or any elected official for ignoring them. We have processes to make and unmake laws, and those processes need to be followed. BHO has ignored any laws that get in the way of his radical socialist agenda, has been held in contempt of two federal courts, and his AG has been held in contempt of Congress, yet nothing is done. It is a dangerous precedent that does not bode well for a society that is based on a civil society, natural rights, and the rule of law. This particular meeting irked me because people who are in the country illegally should have NO standing to meet with the president -- by definition they are criminals -- yet he meets with them, while members of his own administration, legal citizens with standing are ignored. Bad medicine.

I can think of plenty of 'laws' throughout history that I would have gladly cheered a government official for breaking.

This is a more valid complaint.

I like him already,. He is right, black people everywhere should be ashamed to have this work of a man be the first black president.

I plan on sticking around unless they remove me from the site for "inconvenient truths"

I am a bible thumping, gun packing Christian conservative and some people, even on bun boards, have issue with that. I am also a proud Descendant of a confederate veteran as well as every other war the USA has fought since 1812.

Pat Moynihan (D-NY) once said it best. "We are all entitled to our own opinions but we are not entitled to our own facts".

I have studied politics, history, African-American ( ???) history, sociology and criminology at the university level and finished with honors.

Someone does not like something I put fine. Mods do not like something I put on the board I will not post it, but just because something offends someone does not make it racist, or sexist or something like that.

Oh, and most people get a hell of a kick out of this. I am a registered Democrat as my whole family has, but I think I am one of the last conservative ones in the world and there is not a current democrat I would vote for. Now if Zell Miller were to get back into politics I would.
