Always some clocks get missed. Must do this on the weekend so everyone can be on time Monday.Gotta go to bed just saw the time on my phone and realized I hadn't changed the clock I have been looking at today.
Yups...Speaking of prices, stopped at zel’s today to grab lunch. One sammich, chili cheese fries and two shakes……$38!!! I was sticker shocked but paid. It was good but doubt I’ll be doing that again anytime soon
Wow, really? Good to know. I rarely carry more than $20 or so.Uncle Chens is cash only now.
What I don’t get is how are the “real” restaurants cheaper than fast food? Because they don’t pay the servers? That’s about the only difference in supply chain / labor between the two. And fast food places buy stuff by the ton and on contract you would think they are getting things cheaper than 12 islands in crown point… prices in sit down places have raised but not by the % fast food joints have.I pretty much stopped going out to eat except for very special events.
I do drive a lot. So hard not to hit an occasional drive thru.
I broke down and got hungry for fried chicken and pulled into Popeyes. I ordered 2 pieces of chicken alacarte, no drinks, no nothing else, girl at the window said the tab would be about $8. I said for real. She said yup. I said nah. Drove away. $8 for 2 pieces of chicken!
I did notice a double cheeseburger at McD is someting like $3.69, but you can get a 2nd one for $1 more. Arby's has similar deals, big fish sandwiches are 2 for $6.
I tend to have multiple beverage choices in my car at all times so I don't order a drink. Skip the french fries, really never liked them anyway. I can get thru a fast food joint for $5 to $7. But it's all garbage food. I go only when I really NEED something and I'm too far from home to wait any longer.
BEAR IN MIND I DON'T BLAME the restaurants. Labor in many areas is close to $15 for unskilled kids who can't count change. Ingredients are up. So it's just damn expensive. They got to pass on the costs. But while I don't blame them, I choose to drive past them a lot more than I used to, or, if really pressed for food, I get "value meal" options.
I like UC, good people and shooters too.Wow, really? Good to know. I rarely carry more than $20 or so.
(Waiting on @darkkevin to tell us it's garbage anyway.)
Maybe I will have to switch. I hate finding parking for china king anyhow……. I drop my wife at the door and go annoy people in that little one way road area behind the bar lolI like UC, good people and shooters too.
You may run into them at SPB or whatever they call it this week.
No good Chinese food left in CP.Wow, really? Good to know. I rarely carry more than $20 or so.

8 bucks for a shake? Ouch. I'm guessing it was a machine shake also, not a real one... big profit margin.Speaking of prices, stopped at zel’s today to grab lunch. Value meal means cheapest thing you can get and still hungry.I pretty much stopped going out to eat except for very special events.

Agreed, G Jin is my preference, but sometimes I just don't want to make the trip.No good Chinese food left in CP.
Exactly. If it's morning and I'm desperate, I may pay $3 for a cup of coffee, but then Mom and I share it because neither of us drinks that much. Soda/iced tea/dessert? No way. Water and then stop at Strack's on the way home for a carton of Blue Bunny Butter Pecan Caramel Praline. Six servings for less than the price of one dessert.my Cheapskate shows when it’s time to order drinks…. Water. Not interested in paying $4 for a cup o’ sugar.
Left? I don't know if there ever were any good ones in CP, at least not in the last 14ish years that I've lived here. Its disappointing really cause I love me a good Chinese meal from time to time.No good Chinese food left in CP.
When I worked at Zel's in high school they were machine ice cream, but the flavor was mixed in from what was essentially sundae topings (strawberry chucks in syrup, chocolate syrup, banana chucks in syrup, etc).8 bucks for a shake? Ouch. I'm guessing it was a machine shake also, not a real one... big profit margin.
What I don't understand is the discrepancy between the prices in Popeye's ads and the prices once you get there. I am always seeing ads for a two or three piece wing lunch with a side and biscuit for $3.99 or $4.99, yet last time we went there, I couldn't find that option and we paid $22 for the same thing for the two of us. Maybe they are temporary specials, or maybe the CP Popeyes does not participate?I broke down and got hungry for fried chicken and pulled into Popeyes.
