The Griffith Police Department is a proud member department of the Northwest Regional SWAT Team. The team, comprised of officers from ten Lake County cities and towns, trains intensely and regularly. Yesterday, the NWI Times paid a visit to the team's most recent training and took time to video what they saw.

Region SWAT has real blast at training session

I love the way they are "not stacked with entry weapons" right in front of the window. What you do in training is what you do in real life.

I could hear the blasts from my house. Absolutely not fireworks.

There was nothing online last night when I asked. I did assume it was training, because my wife was allowed to pass on Ridge Road.

You do not know how accurate that is.

When I moved in we were unincorporated and our water and sewer was supplied by Griffith. Gary ran a sewer line down our street and incorporated us.
