You do not need cable or sat to watch an over the air channel. You do however need a digital to analog box about $70 in order to use your antenna to get the over the air signal as those signals went digital a while back. Its still free.

Correct unless your name is ericpwp.
Then you need that $60 converter box between the tv and the antenna. Also his antenna he must install on his high roof by himself.
