Well there are some pretty good spots.

PRIME steakhouse in Crown Point
GAMBA in Merrillville is very very good
Don Quijote in Valpo for Spanish food and Tapas, they also have a annual wild game feast that is amazing.

So while in Virginia for Memorial day weekend and for my 10yr reunion for our Plt where for many of us it was our first deployment will be traveling to DC to see Rolling Thunder as well as visiting other memorials and museums such as the Marine Corps Museum. Just hoping we can find a parking spot in Virginia and be able to walk across to DC.

There are some decent restaurants downtown Valpo now. They are trying to be trendy.

You've been lucky, they used to make an example of kicking out INGO members. My guess is their current manager is blind. Their corporate policy is to forbid guns on their properties. So the fact that you got lucky doesn't change things, they are adamantly anti-gun and not getting my money. Others can spend their money as they see fit.
