Obama's enormous world popularity has more to do with him being considered to be the most likely leader to help bring the world out of recession. They don't want a weak United States but rather they want to see an end to the global economic slow down. The new poll results are not surprising considering that he was viewed as the most powerful and respected world leader back in 2009, and in another 2009 poll the one most likely to improve the world's economy.

In a February 2009 poll conducted in Western Europe and the U.S. by Harris Interactive for France 24 and the International Herald Tribune, Obama was rated as the most respected world leader, as well as the most powerful.[270] In a similar poll conducted by Harris in May 2009, Obama was rated as the most popular world leader, as well as the one figure most people would pin their hopes on for pulling the world out of the economic downturn.[271][272]

Not surprising, given that the rest of the world subscribes to Keynesian economic theory, if not in name, then in spirit.

Like I said before, most countries have at least one barrier preventing people from succeeding, and thus allowing the "haves" to take advantage of the "have nots."

Given this, it is logical and right for people to think that the wealth should be redistributed since it was taken from them unfairly to begin with.

However, no such barriers exist in the United States. Their ideas might apply quite well to their own existence, but clash in the American system.

But if past performance is any indication of future success, Obama should be out of favor with the world.

I think Obama's worldwide popularity has more to do with his "apology tour" than anything else. The world viewed us as a unilateral cowboy nation, which I suppose is a fair criticism of a particular Texan president. But Obama makes the world think that under his "leadership" America is less egocentric.

I remember reading an article and it stated that President Nixon was very popular outside of the U.S. The article also stated many people outside of the U.S. didn't understand why he was so loathed here. They also didn't understand why Watergate was such a big deal. The article went on to state that most of the people polled thought his thawing of relations with Communist China should outweigh anything he did to get reelected.

This is news? On what planet is this news?

On Planet NPR. They're hoping to stave off the demise of Big Bird...

Corporation for Public Broadcasting - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Interesting that in the middle of the Vietnam War LBJ shook loose a few shekels to start up the Corp. for Public Broadcasting.

In 2004 and 2005, people from the PBS and NPR complained that the CPB was starting to push a conservative agenda.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporation_for_Public_Broadcasting#cite_note-7http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporation_for_Public_Broadcasting#cite_note-8

As opposed to a liberal agenda?

It's good to know that some of you crazy right wingnuts listen to NPR. I've been a member since 1982. I also listen to FOX news (for laughs). Obamacare was really a Heritage foundation/Republican/Conservative idea. As soon as Obama adopted it, McConnell and his minions opposed it. And, yes, Obama is the father of the extraterrestrial baby born to Hillary when Bill was president. I don't deny our overtaxed leaders their bizarre and exotic pleasures.
