    This deer had some very uncomfortable days until he was harvested by this hunter. It is obvious that there was a fight during the rut and this
    deer ended up with an extra antler (embedded below the eye). You can see that the antler from the attacking deer was broke off below the base of the antler as there is still blood on the pedicel. That takes a tremendous amount of pressure. Pretty amazing!

    that was posted here before... i beleive it turned out that that is a disease where the antlers grow out their eye socket.

    Yup, after looking at the pics and 45calibre saying that, I did a search on yahoo for "deer antler growing out of eye" and it came back to that Kansas buck from 2007. Would still make for an interesting mount.

    I have never heard of that....how would you explain the blood and fur at the end (pedicel) of the antler? Sure looks like it was ripped off of another deer. :dunno:

    if you look close you will see i believe in the second picture,that it splits into 2 points at what would be called the pedicel,it is also larger at what would be considered the base due to blood flow during growth. What you see as fur is really velvet that was not scraped off.
