North Dakota Legalizes Armed Police Drones : The Two-Way : NPR

Hope posting an NPR article isn't grounds for an automatic ban! ;) They passed a law mandating LEO get a warrant before using drones for surveillance (YAY!) and preventing drones from being armed with lethal weaponry. As it currently reads, however, less than lethal and non-lethal weaponry is allowed. The state representative had to cave on the non-lethal armaments to get the warrant law passed. During the interview, he stated that he was interested in revisiting the policy after a while to attempt disarming drones completely.

If this is the wrong forum, I do apologize! Feel free to move me where needed. I thought the privacy issues and police militarization were worth discussing :)

Great thread and interesting read, thanks for posting!

    Glad to! Thanks :)

I think it is interesting to see how other states are responding to pervasive drone usage, especially as it pertains to privacy rights of their citizens. Gives some idea which way the wind is blowing!
