Why should someone getting likely 1.5X their normal rate receive welfare?
I don't see it as welfare. I see it as you have already paid the requirement. The company bases all of the benefit cost on a 40 hour work week. Why shouldn't the citizen?

When I was single, I worked a couple places with tons of mandatory call out overtime. One year was over 1700 hours of overtime. I also had rental properties with positive cash flow. What the taxman does to a single male with no dependents once he hit $104K was obscene. It made welfare and food stamps look like a nice alternative.
