Wrong N.C- FLA-TX are a few states that your state licence are good for a NCIS check ,and as i originally stated our INDIANA -CCL was good to go at one time why not now?
In Georgia, if you have a carry license, there is no background check. The dealer simply writes the license number and dates of issue and expiration on the 4473, and it is cash & carry.

Maybe it's because we don't have to register our guns here is why. Do you have to register your guns in those states?

    Regarding North Carolina...

A license or permit must be obtained to purchase, sell,
give away, transfer, inherit, or receive a handgun by applying
to the county sheriff in which the purchase is to be made or
where the receiver resides. A purchase permit is good for five
years from the date of issue. Antique firearms are excepted.
The sheriff shall issue such license or permit to a resident of
that county, unless the purpose of the license or permit is for
collecting, in which case a license or permit may be issued to a
nonresident. A permit is valid for the purchase of only one handgun.
To obtain another handgun, an applicant must procure another
permit and must convince the issuing authority that he needs
    more than one handgun.

Florida has a 3-day waiting period.

Texas has no restrictions, their permit is acceptable for the background check.

Why is it that our CCL is not recognized as a NCIS check when we buy a firearm. At one time it was all you had to do to buy a pistol was to have & show your licence at time of purchase and you were good to go. I know some state licences are recognised but not INDIANA 'S WHY?

My LTCH isn't recognized by NCIS because I'm not in the Navy!

Here's a couple of worthwhile reads from the ATF website for Indiana gun owners...

You want to know if permits qualify as alternatives to the background check requirements:
ATF Online - Firearms - Brady Law / NICS - Permit Chart

You want to know when things changed that would disallow a permit as alternative:
ATF Open Letter to All Indiana Federal Firearms Licensees

so my Utah permit "Concealed weapons permits qualify" does that mean that I don't need the NCIS check now?

I remember when I was stationed at Ft. Hood Texas about 10 years ago just walking into the gun shop and showing my Drivers License and military orders assigning me to Ft. Hood. Walked out 10 Mins later with a new revolver. It should always be this easy.
