A woman's right to terminate a pregnancy whenever it's not a good time for her...

I'm very pro choice. I may not believe in someone ending a pregnancy by having an abortion but that belief shouldn't be foisted upon someone else. The Hippocratic oath doesn't go against a doctor performing an abortion.

Sorry....

Nor shall any man's entreaty prevail upon me to administer poison to anyone; neither will I counsel any man to do so. Moreover, I will give no sort of medicine to any pregnant woman, with a view to destroy the child.

Oaths! Pthbbbbbb.....just a bunch of words.

I'm interested where you came up with that. Here is the current Hippocratic oath. Just a few sources.

Just a few facts about the AMA, the Hippocratic oath, and whether or not doctors are required to take it. Only 8% of medical schools prohibit abortion in their Hippocratic oaths. So I'll credit you with 8%.

I have no idea what the Hippocratic Oath says. There are so many versions. The original one swore by Apollo and the other "gods". It also said I won't pick up the knife. So no surgeries.

the one I use in my personal practice is: "I'll treat you like you are a member of my family." I do the best I can and give of myself what I have to offer.

i haven't heard a single conversation in 11 years that was serious regarding the oath. It's a cute piece of lore though.

• I swear by Apollo the physician, and Aesculapius the surgeon, likewise Hygeia and Panacea, and call all the gods and goddesses to witness, that I will observe and keep this underwritten oath, to the utmost of my power and judgment.
I will reverence my master who taught me the art. Equally with my parents, will I allow him things necessary for his support, and will consider his sons as brothers. I will teach them my art without reward or agreement; and I will impart all my acquirement, instructions, and whatever I know, to my master's children, as to my own; and likewise to all my pupils, who shall bind and tie themselves by a professional oath, but to none else.
With regard to healing the sick, I will devise and order for them the best diet, according to my judgment and means; and I will take care that they suffer no hurt or damage.
Nor shall any man's entreaty prevail upon me to administer poison to anyone; neither will I counsel any man to do so. Moreover, I will give no sort of medicine to any pregnant woman, with a view to destroy the child.
Further, I will comport myself and use my knowledge in a godly manner.
I will not cut for the stone, but will commit that affair entirely to the surgeons.
Whatsoever house I may enter, my visit shall be for the convenience and advantage of the patient; and I will willingly refrain from doing any injury or wrong from falsehood, and (in an especial manner) from acts of an amorous nature, whatever may be the rank of those who it may be my duty to cure, whether mistress or servant, bond or free.
Whatever, in the course of my practice, I may see or hear (even when not invited), whatever I may happen to obtain knowledge of, if it be not proper to repeat it, I will keep sacred and secret within my own breast.
If I faithfully observe this oath, may I thrive and prosper in my fortune and profession, and live in the estimation of posterity; or on breach thereof, may the reverse be my fate![SUP][5][/SUP]

How much are junior doctors paid, and why are they threatening to strike? - Telegraph

Screw the British government on this one trying to cut the doctors pay by 30% and expecting them to just lay down and take it. I mean the average pay for a full fledged doctor is not even that good in Britain coming in at around 55,000 pounds a year. Doctors are for the most part the best educated and most highly sought after people on the planet I don't think the British government realizes these doctors can work anywhere in the world pretty easily.

That's pretty low pay all things considered.

I wasn't being condescending about anything. If I were I'd be asking things like "don't any of you read about the issue before commenting?" As far as Sanders or Clinton bringing a single payer healthcare system they can't do it on their own with a wave of their socialist wand. IF it comes here it will be because the legislation was bought and paid for by private interests that can profit from such a system.

OK, the person having the power to either sign or veto legislation is completely irrelevant, as is the power to appoint judges including and especially Supreme Court Justices. Using executive orders to enhance or augment existing legislation cannot be done even though it has in fact been done fairly regularly. You are absolutely right. The person in the Oval Office doesn't make a damned bit of difference. On that note, maybe we should eliminate it as an elected office and set up a lottery, or maybe a selection by the Congress, similar to the British process for choosing a Prime Minister. It would make the process much easier, and besides, if the holder of the office doesn't really make a difference, why do we go to so much trouble, anyway?

Obamacare passed by congress, Medicare was created by congress, Social Security created by congress, Supreme Court Justices approved by congress, Obama's NLRB appointees struck down by Supreme Court, Federal appeals court struck down Obama's order on immigrant deportation, Obama's power plant regulations were struck down, I could go on. Tell me more about how the president has free reign to simply sign an executive order and it's permanent or even legal and how all the dreadful socialist programs are signed into law in an executive order.

Research how the ACA was passed. Not really the process the framers had in mind in the constitution. It was passed through parliamentary smoke and mirrors.
