Just a quick note to say HI to all members from a new-comer. Interested in learning more about "assault" rifles with intention of purchasing my first in 6.5 Grendel. Searching for as much info as needed for an informed purchase while that option still exists. I am an experienced deer hunter with a good assortment of bolt-action rifles along with a few leverguns and pistols. Time for a semi-auto. I am also a "cheap guy". Wanting a good bang for my hard-earned buck. Time to peruse the info on this site. thanks for allowing me

Welcome to INGO! :ingo: There is a lot to learn here.

Here is one of your first items: Actually, it sounds like you are interested in an "assault weapon" as the media and other anti-gun folks would call it. An "assault rifle" has a real definition- a rifle that allows full auto (aka select fire). It is possible but time-consuming and expensive to get one of those. An "assault weapon" is a purposely vague and variable political term used to demonize common modern semi-auto firearms such as AR-15s. Since "assault weapon" is a pejorative term, it isn't a good idea to use it here.

    :welcome:
