I used live worms and I think the fish just ate the worm right off the hook because every time I reeled it in the worm was gone.

Could you feel the bite? If not, you could have to much slack in your line. You want it tight so you can tell when you get a bite.

Also, not to be a smart ass but did you set the hook? If your new to fishing, you might not know this. Fish dont always hook themselves. You need pull your rod tip up sharply when you feel a bite. Thats going to stick the hook deeper into the lips and give you better odds at landing one.

    Here's my 2 cents worth.

Go get some Jeff's Salty Crawlin' Grubs from Walmart (if they still sell them) and some 1/8 oz weedless jig heads. Rig it so it looks like a crawfish. Cast it off structure or well behind rocks and work it up like a crawdad would go backwards. If bass (redeye, large, or smallmouth) are in the water and feeding, then you'll be pleasantly surprised. I've fished many waters in these United States and I have found this to be the Indiana magic weapon. White River, Duck Creek, and many others. Never fished Eagle Creek. No need to travel any farther than necessary when I have productive waters nearby.

I always release and say "go get bigger".:)

I'm guessing he's on the westside at least enough to make eagle creek worth going to. Like i said if he wants to fish i'll share the pond. My wife will out fish us both  but what the heck. It's still fun.
