Not sure how to feel about this...

Prolific producer Alex Kurtzman is developing a new take on the beloved sci-fi classic for TV, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The new Star Trek has been picked up straight to series at CBS, with the premiere slated for the network in January 2017. Subsequent episodes will air on its digital and VOD platform, CBS All Access. The premiere and all subsequent episodes will then be available in the U.S. on CBS All Access, the network’s digital subscription video on demand and live streaming service. Star Trek marks the first original series developed specifically for CBS All Access.

    Ah... video on demand/digital subscription

Doesn't get better than TOS/TNG. Didn't watch anything after those.

TNG was awesome when it aired, but does not hold up like TOS. The only other incarnation I've seen was Enterprise, and that was just this year on Netflix.

Yeah, TNG got a bit long in the tooth... and Riker's Beard can only carry it for so long.

    That and **** Wil Wheaton.

Skeptical how many people will buy a streaming service for one show... but Star Trek is probably a good test.

Then again... isn't this the most viable alternative to bundling, something we all hate?

Funny the symmetry that seems to happen with Star Wars/Star Trek reboots.

I'd be down with a new ST series.

If they stick to the tried and true formula of hot chicks in tight 'uniforms', I'm in.

    My favorite Vulcan...

I watched them all, even Deep Space Nine....but I eventually gave up on that one.

As long as it follows the ST formula, I'm in.

Enterprise could have been really good. The standard T&A formula makes it worth watching, and Jolene Blalock filled out T'Pol's uniform pretty damn well. But writing matters a whole lot too. I think the universe is still pissed about how it ended.

I was all for this until I saw Kurtzman is involved. Ron Moore would be the guy to go to for a new series imo, with J. Michael Straczynski second.
