I have used the red wedges before. They serve a purpose. There can be enough tolerance stacking between uppers and lowers of different manufacturers that a little movement exists. I've had it between uppers and lowers of known good brands even. The best solution I've found is to use lowers that have an adjustment screw under the grip in the lower to snug up to the rear takedown lug. I've been using Centurion lowers for my last several builds and they have it.

Does this tier list correlate with what y'all would consider SHTF ARs?

Really considering a Daniel Defense AR as my go to for SHTF. Currently at poverty level

No, mostly it correlates with cost, and stroking one's ego. At least at the top end.

If the excrement impacts the electromagnetically powered air mover, whatever you have that is reliable and goes bang will be a SHTF rifle. When that one goes down you will pick up what you can find. (They all go down eventually)

Know how to use the weapon, know how to maintain it, and build it. Those software skills will be more important on that day, than the brand of the rifle. (Even though I love me some LWRCI)
