I need to get a wall tether for my flat screen tv. My tv isn't mounted on the wall, it's sitting on our cabinet.

I'd like to be able to tether my tv, but still have the ability to rotate it on the stand.

Anyone have any ideas where I can find one?

Is your cabinet really that unstable? I have a 100# 60" plasma sitting on a stand and it would take a lot to get it to fall over.

If you really want to tether it get creative. Unless you're going to climb on it you don't need much as you just have to keep it from going past the half way point. A light string or cable tied to the center of the set should retain your ability to turn it.

My cabinet is fine. But the tv HAS to be tethered, according to the home study requirements. (I'm going thru adoption).

Light cable and crimps down at lowes for a few bucks. Attach to the existing screw holes on the back of the tv where wall mounts attach.
Put a screw in eyelet on the back of the stand or into a wall stud and run the cable through it. Like hanging a picture but a little looser.
Added benefit of some theft protection.

Ive got the cable and the expensive Swaging tool. Tell me how long you want it and I'll make you a cable tether with a loop on each end. Or for that matter, a continuous loop.

I had to get one for some ceiling mount projectors and have PLENTY of extra.

And the damned tool was the worst part. $80!

    Earth and you?
You might as well consider tethering your book case's, dressers, appliances,etc...... I was so anal when my oldest was pulling up onto everything I screwed the coffee and end tables to the floor! Think two feet off the floor! Recepticle covers (plugs), kid proof cabinets and so on. Best of luck to you on your adoption!
