I need a factory Remington 700 Varmint barrel removed, as I'm likely converting to a Rem-Age.

Anybody recommend somebody with a proper barrel vise and action wrench down around Clark/Floyd County that could quickly (ie. while I wait) do this for me? I figure for somebody that knows what they are doing, with proper tools, it should take <10min.

    Thanks...

Last time I talked to AllenM about replacing a barrel he said he had the tools. He is in Avon. And a INGO advertiser. Very talented gunsmith too!

Do you need to salvage the barrel to "sell" (ie: stuff in a corner for 10 years until you get tired of it sitting there rusting)?

I can get the action off there in nearly zero time if not. I use a side-access lug wrench from Surgeon Rifles. Pretty easy task with the right application of torque.

If you DO need the barrel salvaged, I can do it, but it would take a little longer than sitting and waiting. The action vice I have is set up for larger stuff than your standard sporter Remington.

Whatever you do, make sure to fully detail clean the threads and lugs, and check the face of the action out before you get to installing a new barrel. Also, if you intend to do much of this on the action, do yourself a favor and get a good smith to double pin the recoil lug.
