Congrats on the Kimber. They're nice. Just be careful..... if "series 1" isn't stamped into the gun, you're not supposed to call it a series 1 gun. Ask me how I know.... :D  oh, wait..... maybe that only applies to Colts.....:dunno:

, Yep I've seen the bloody aftermath on other forums, when the proper term police attack.

I got out Sunday and was able to put a 100 rounds through it and boy, was it sweet. Fantastic shooter, I'm very, very happy. Also put another 100 Rd's through the TLE II and it is an awesome shooter. God, I love these guns. They can shoot and are a lot more capable than I am. Made another 2" hole with a couple of flyers at 7 yrds unsupported with well over a 125 Rd's through both guns. After I moved it out to 15 yrds my accuracy dropped off to a grouping of about 6" but I must admit I was getting a little tired (I've been taking a lot of meds for pain lately and it wears me down). Damn, I wish the price of .45's would go down. :xmad:

    2) What is a Schwartz safety????

Basically a secondary firing pin safety located in the slide.
There is a lever that protrudes from the top of the frame when the grip
safety is squeezed that pushed the schwartz safety up and away so the
firing pin can move when the hammer strikes.
People do remove the block from the slide but you have to take the
rear sight off to get to it. Kind of a pain. There have been failures associated
with this safety as the lifting lever has the tip sheared off and will not
deactivate the safety bar during use.
Also if you try to field strip and are gripping the grip safety
you will damage something trying to get the slide off if the tip is protruding.
    An additional drop safety.

    Ok, two questions:

    1) how do you know what series your Kimber is? My pops has a couple of mid 90s versions.
On the ejection port side is the name of the model, if it doesn't have a next to the model name it is not a series II.

    2) What is a Schwartz safety????

The Schwarz safety is a firing pin safety that is on all series II Kimber's
