Just remember that a statement is one thing, but please watch his vote. If his vote lines up with what he said, please write to him and thank him for his clearly stated position and his vote to back that up.
If his vote differs from what he said, please ask him to explain. Often these representative forget that the voters back home are watching.
Remember that these representative are literally in a cesspool in Washington DC and there are lobbyists hounding them all day every day. There are "leaders" from both parties twisting their arms and trying to negotiate a "deal".
But at the end of day, a representative needs to remember who elected them. If the voters in their district don't communicate, they think things are all OK.
