I think its now dead. Runs for a minute or so, rpm fluxuates, then gets slower and slower until it stops. It hasn't been running well for a month.

Motor turns freely, no binding. Lasted for 4 years.

Anyone ever replace the motor on one of these? I wouldn't know where to start looking.

Maybe its time for a new one.

You got 4 years out of a $30 tumbler, I have 2 of the same ones one for dirty brass (Walnut) and one for high polish (Corn Cob). It served you well, have a small memorial service for it and go buy a new one.

In the four years did you tumble very much brass with it, If so you probably got your money worth out of it, I would buy a new one. :twocents:

It was used quite a bit. Guess I'm more of a "fix what you have" rather than replace type. I've looked at the Cabelas tumbler and media separator. The price is ok.

I was just about to buy a chrono too.

sounds like the motor needs maintence. disassemble and clean with electric motor cleaner. or carb cleaner. make sure the brushes are still there and re assemble and lube with thin oil on bearings or bushings which ever it has.

Don't mess with it, call Frankford and check if it is still under warrenty. I sent mine back this summer (Cabela's made by Frankford) and for just the cost of shipping out, got it back with a new motor, new clear lid, and new lid hold down knob. Frankford has great CS and warrenty service, turn around was about 10 days.
