    $150 for an m95 Steyr-Mannlicher.

Not a good deal, you say? How about numbers matching, long rifle (not a cut down "Stutzen") and came with a proper bayonet.

Funny thing about that one. Any delusions I had that it wouldn't rock me back as hard as the carbine versions were quickly dissipated.

$75 For a mossberg 500 with new polymer stocks. Shoots great.
$150 cash and a Star .40 trade for my 1991A1 Compact in the box with the second mag never even inserted into the gun. I had $175 in the Star.

It's nice to see another that appreciates these rifles.
Nice buy at that price with a bayonet yet. :)

I think I bought mine for around $230 off a gentleman nearly two years ago. No bayonet though.
I hope you have a stash of ammo though. I'd guess that you've seen what both the surplus and new production is going for nowdays. :faint:

I nearly forgot. For on-topic answer to the OP.
Best deal for me would have to be the $55 out the door Delton AR-15 lower receiver I purchased around this time last year.
But for a complete rifle, I'd have to go with the $205 shipped refurbished MAS 36/51 that I picked up from a collector. Unfired since refurbishing. I know these went for a little less many years ago, but I bought this one about 3 years ago.

I've run across a few good deals, some I've jumped on, others I've passed up because I didn't have the money at the time.

    Ones I've jumped on...

A "used" but appeared to be brand new, unfired, Mossberg Maverick 88 Security for $105 last year at Gander Mountain in Merrillville.

A Marlin Model 60 for $40, that after a good cleaning has lasted over 4K rounds and still looks great. Snagged that one at Piggy Bank Pawn Shop in Vincennes about 4 years ago.

And a I bought Springfield XD 4" Service Model in .357sig, had less than 1K rounds and came with a tungsten guide rod, NIB TruGlo TFO sights, 3 magazines, and a SERPA holster. I got it for $300 shipped to my FFL. A guy on xdtalk.com needed to get his wife something for her 30th birthday, and the gun had to go ASAP!

One I passed up, and wished I didn't...

NIB Rock Island Armory 1911 for $300.

In that case, a non-gun purchase.

I bought a set of Dillon Carbide 38/357 dies and 550 shell plate at an auction for $45, I turned around and sold the shell-plate for $35. So I had a set of Dillon carbide 38/357 dies for $10 :rockwoot:

    Chinese SKS

My best deal was my first rifle. Picked up a Chinese SKS on my 18th birthday. Paid $70 out the door. I couldn't see myself ever getting rid of it.

My best trade was a S&W 1911 for a S&W 327R8. Buddy of mine figured out that he didn't like revolvers. I had enough 1911's that getting rid of one wasn't too big of a deal.

On the converse my worst was getting a Glock 23. I had tried a couple Glocks and knew that I didn't like the grip angle. Still bought it and recently got rid of it.

My best deal was in the late 80's-early 90's. I came across a Colt 3in " Combat " Python at the Ft. Wayne gunshow for $400.00. The dealer that had it knew how few were made, but neither of us realized how they would soar in price years later because I traded it on something else just about a year later.
