I agree unless one is shooting from 5 yards or less. With low recoil 00 buckshot, my Gatekeeper II is very controllable. Depending on the ammo, it is very effective out to 10 and 15 yards when aimed. There is a learning curve to the gun, but I like mine a lot. It is probably one gun I'll never sell. It is fun to shoot with low recoil loads, too. If I were going fishing, etc., in bear country (I most likely won't be able to) it would accompany me, loaded with slugs. It might be fun on a hog hunt.Don't shoot it from the hip.
