Have you noticed the Mosquitoes are already out! Here is a homemade trap to help keep you and the kiddos from being a blood donor!!!

    HOMEMADE MOSQUITO TRAP:
    Items needed:
    1 cup of water
    1/4 cup of brown sugar
    1 gram of yeast
    1 2-liter bottle

    HOW:
    1. Cut the plastic bottle in half.
    2. Mix brown sugar with hot water. Let cool. When cold, pour in the bottom half of the bottle.
    3. Add the yeast. No need to mix. It creates carbon dioxide, which attracts mosquitoes.
    4. Place the funnel part, upside down, into the other half of the bottle, taping them together if desired.
    5. Wrap the bottle with something black, leaving the top uncovered, and place it outside in an area away from your normal gathering area. (Mosquitoes are also drawn to the color black.)

Change the solution every 2 weeks for continuous control.

This sounds a lot cheaper than the propane mosquito traps!
Placement of the trap can be important. If any wind is present, you want it to carry the scent of the carbon dioxide to attract the little buggers. But you don't want it carrying the scent to wherever you are gathering.
I will give it a whirl in the coming weeks.

I would think it would fail in hot temps but this is worth trying. For sure not for cold nights, once the yeast dies it is done. I would not put it in direct sun with temps going over 90, put it in the shade.

I like it! We spend lotsa time out back but there's a creek not far off our property that is mosquito haven.

There's only so much the tiki torches can do.

    Well I just learned something.

Why are mosquitoes attracted to the colour black? - Times Of India
Mosquitoes are attracted to dark colours, not only black, because dark colours absorb heat and lighter colours tend to reflect heat. Since mosquitoes have sophisticated and highly sensitive heat sensors, they tend to be more attracted to victims dressed in darker clothes, where there is more heat.

Just like Japanese beetle traps. Dont use them. They draw even more beetles to your property then they ever kill. Why draw skeeters in to your stand with you? Put them down at ground level away from your tree.

Cutting down on your own body heat, respiration and choice of clothing colors will do more for you right in the stand.

Wear this in your stand, not only does it work, it has a "3D effect" and provides some extra depth in terms of camo. So small and light weight I keep one folded up in a gallon zip lock along with skeeter proof gloves for hot weather hunting and hiking.
