    I know Soldiers while in uniform per Indiana Law are exempt. But for licensing purposes does the military get a reduced rate like officers?

    ONLY Military Members Carrying Weapons in the Course of OFFICIAL MILITARY BUSINESS.

    Official Military Business is not the same as Service Members in Uniform. ;)

    The law doesn't say "Official miltary business", it says "Members of the Armed forces while on duty/active duty". :patriot:
    You are referring to IC 35-47-2-2, Correct?!
    Yes, yes it does actually say that...

    I highlighted (6) so we can have a better understanding of the exception that you are misreading. Duty as it is being referred to here is any action, task, etc. required by or relating to one's occupation or position. Not the Status of the Person in the Military (trust me I wish it was the way you are thinking though).

    There is also Military Regulations and Policies that prohibit this as well...
    IC 35-47-2-2
    Excepted persons
    Sec. 2. Section 1 of this chapter does not apply to:
    (1) marshals;
    (2) sheriffs;
    (3) the commissioner of the department of correction or persons authorized by the commissioner in writing to carry firearms;
    (4) judicial officers;
    (5) law enforcement officers;

    (6) members of the armed forces of the United States or of the national guard or organized reserves while they are on duty;
    (7) regularly enrolled members of any organization duly authorized to purchase or receive such weapons from the United States or from this state who are at or are going to or from their place of assembly or target practice;
    (8) employees of the United States duly authorized to carry handguns;
    (9) employees of express companies when engaged in company business; or
    (10) any person engaged in the business of manufacturing,
    repairing, or dealing in firearms or the agent or representative of any such person having in the person's possession, using, or carrying a handgun in the usual or ordinary course of that business.

    been an mp for going on 4 years this january in the National Guard, the only time we get live rounds is if we are on duty, or transporting weapons or gear that could be considered high value. Most of the time just the driver of the vehicle is armed. Granted after seeing alot of the guys qualify Im glad only a few people actually have rounds.
