Just eliminate welfare, ie stop the government from rewarding negative behavior as it does now, and the culture will respond in the positive direction.

Yep. Parents who beat, or otherwise mistreat their children will also stop.

I know that its a sarcastic statement, but the policy proposal is more than just what you say it is.

Worst campaign commercial I've seen in generations. I mean Pence dressed in jeans leaning on a truck isn't fresh, but the moustache/beauty salon route is just silly.

I've heard "political scientists" say (usually with gritted teeth) that the Governor's race is Pence's to lose. John Gregg is coming from behind in name recognition and, especially, money, so he's attempting to gain supporters by using the one positive quality he does possess - his sense of humor. Unsurprisingly, as I've mentioned in another thread, his comic gimmicks have won him some support amongst the "young skulls full of mush" who react to emotion more than common sense.

I suspect Gregg will rely - as is Pence - on his engaging personality providing a positive image and likely we won't see too many attack ads featuring Gregg (although I have seen one already), who will likely rely on outside PACs to attack Pence.

All of the ads featuring Gregg have been attack ads.

Just because you say it with a smile, doesn't make it any less of an "attack".

I've yet to see an ad from The Mustache that doesn't attack Pence, or at least gives us a clue what Gregg would do in office.

Of course, I also don't expect anything different than what I'm seeing...

I read throught the referenced link. Regarding that policy statement:

Issue an executive order requiring all relevant state agencies to draft a Family Impact Statement when they adopt new rules and regulations.....

    It lists these initiatives:

Does the proposed regulation increase or decrease family income?
Does the proposed regulation support or inhibit family formation?
Does the proposed regulation respect or inhibit the right of parents to raise their children?

I don't see anything here to not be in support of. I would, of course, welcome such inspection towards contemplated laws as they would affect individuals and businesses as well.

But the one part regarding that summit thing mentioned:

    • All income restrictions for school scholarships for adoptive parents will be removed
    • The parents in consultation with the child’s team will select the best school for the student
    • The scholarship amount will be at the highest possible amount provided by the state of Indiana, which is currently 90 percent of the average per student statewide expenditure
What in the world is the "child's team"? This definitely has a whiff of big-brotherism. I didn't catch any explanation or clarification of that statement.

I would object on Big Brotherism grounds.

We don't need blue ribbon commissions, or summits, or impact studies.

Although I don't necessarily consider it a disqualification for office, Pence's wife IS a school teacher; I sense her influence in this.

I don't understand what this means? Karen is an incredibly smart woman. I hope that Mike takes all the advice she gives him into consideration.

    He has two First Names
    He has a mustache
He hangs out at the "Blue Bird"

Am I missing anything else about his platform?

I won't vote for Pence or Greg. Rupert's looking better all the time.
