Wait, this is just more INGO hysteria about secret meetings, dual citizenship or vaccines?

Does this mean no war with the HC? I was going to offer myself as a hostage to Switzerland so no war could break out.

So for everyone cracking jokes, I assume you feel fine with congress or the president having dual citizenship status? Are there any countries off limits? This just seems like something the right wing would have been all over had the tables been turned.

I think this should answer that question. Calm down haters. Much adieu about nothing.

Michele Bachmann renounces Swiss citizenship - Tim Mak - POLITICO.com

Sorry KG, I gotta hate some more...

So let me get this straight, she gets Swiss in 1978 (which apparently even the Swiss don't believe), it gets some press, and she turns right around and renounces it? Are you kidding me? Talk about a "slap in the face" towards the Swiss.

It's scary to think that dual citizenship doesn't bar persons from having access to sensitive information.

It is my understanding that many Jewish folks have an automatic dual citizenship with Israel. I met a couple of Jewish gentlemen at a wedding a couple of years ago in Los Angeles and although they were all born in the US 3 out of the 4 had went to serve in the military in Israel, one a sniper, one IDF and the other in intelligence services. They were all US citizens.

I am a member of the right wing and this does not bother me. Sorry for not fitting your stereotype Butters. But don't you worry. I am sure you will come across something on the web tomorrow to try and paint all conservatives as racist, homophobic, or inconsistent. Just keep at it and one day it will all fall into place for you.:D

Have mercy! No wonder you like that job. Yes, always willing to put yourself in harms way to avert war. Tough assignment. :):

At least that might go some way towards explaining to the Chancellor of the Exchequer the expenditure of so many thousands of pounds sterling for your "ski trip". ;)

Oh, and on that note ... A secret missive from MI6 indicates a high probability that the svelte young Ukrainian lass you've taken a fancy to might not only be working for SPECTRE, but worst of all is in league with Rhino. So do be careful, Double-O Seven.

Being a Jew does not make one an Israeli citizen.

Here are a few problems with dual-citizenship (of the multitudes):

Jonathan Jay Pollard: was an American-Israeli citizen who worked for the US government. He is well known because he stole more secrets from the U.S. than has any other spy in American history. During his interrogation Pollard said he felt compelled to put the "interests of my state" ahead of his own. Although as a U.S. Navy counter-intelligence specialist he had a top-secret security clearance, by "my state" he meant the state of Israel.

Ben-Ami Kadish: a Connecticut-born U.S. dual citizen who worked in New Jersey was arrested and charged with giving top secret nuclear information and details about the US Patriot Missile to an Israeli agent -- the same agent involved with the Jay Pollard case. The espionage charges reportedly stem from acts committed in the 1980s. These activities, like the ones with convicted spy Pollard, were immediately denied by Israel (Pollard pleaded guilty in 1986). It is further reported that Israeli officials instructed Kadish to lie to US investigators.

I did not say that it does.(I should not have said automatic however) I said many Jewish people also have a dual citizenship with Israel and that it does not bother me. My mother-in-law has a dual citizenship with Argentina (where she now resides.) I stated that I am a right winger and that this does not bother me. I did not say that it doesn't bother some people. I said that it does not bother me.

I also do not have issue with private citizens having dual citizenship. It's when they venture into the realm of creating policy for you and I, or having access to materials that are of interest to national security that I do not relish the thought of.

i agree with this...... of course i dont know her intentions but they didnt sound devious in any way, but yea when your in the position she's in you kind of need to make sure of your allegiance and make sure everyone knows where that allegiance is.

on the other hand isnt it a shame out government has gotten so corrupt that something as innocent as this seems to be at least on the outside is a big deal?

I think it's a question of allegiance. With whom does she side if our nations are at odds over something?

I'd be much more concerned over those with competing allegiances rooted in religious beliefs than mere citizenship status. Faith has become the modern day national pride. Nobody cares about defending the Fatherland anymore. Just their holy book.

What say you? Ready to extend your logic to a far more likely scenario of "what if?" I can count on you to complain the next time a, say, Muslim, is elected/appointed to high political office, right?

The press tells us to worry about Michelle Bachmann's citizenship but not about Barack Obama's citizenship. Is there something wrong with this?
