    Love machine was from there
Thank you, I think the member I'm thinking of was Love Machine.

My son is looking at lathes just to do pens on, I have a Delta 12" x 32? variable speed but its a bit large. Do the guys here that do or did make pens use a full size or a mini machine?
Do you use full size tools or small ones?

I have used full, midi and mini lathes. Depending on what I had at the time and what I was doing

I know 2 guys that make pens, don't know if either of them are members here. 1 uses a large, expensive, almost industrial sized lathe. The other one bought the cheapest and smallest one that Harbor Freight had sitting on the shelf. Both do extremely nice work.

Depending on his skill level, comfort level around the machine and to some extent his age, the one you have might be just fine or you may want to opt for a smaller one.

I use a full size lathe, although haven't turned anything for a bit.

I'm really curious what you guys use or used with lathes and tooling with making pens.
I have that Delta and a set of Sorby turning tools.

I made hundreds of pens. Almost turned into a business, was turning every day. Plus bowls, clocks, stools, etc…

Pens, I made them with a full sized Powermatic 3520B lathe and a Jet Mini Lathe.
My favorite tools to use were the Easy Wood Carbide tools.
