As a Republican his job was to cut spending, not agree to more spending. He was just dumb enough to do it when someone was willing to do something about it. He could have past a bill with good cuts and put it in the lap of the Senate to be the sellout. He chose to be the sellout and he lost. So, by driving a bill with improvements in border security, cuts to wasteful Dem programs, and avoiding a shutdown- he failed? This is why we can’t have nice things and will surely be governed by more Democrats.

He 'drove a bill' that gave the Democrats what they badly wanted - no gov't shutdown - and used his leverage to accomplish NONE of that

I'm trying to decide what the most (incorrectly) overused acronym du jour is: "RINO" or "AI".

Also, how come we never hear the term "DINO" repeated ad nauseum from the other side? Could it be that they see that politics is the art of the possible, and that they want to unite against the true enemies, who sit on the other side of the aisle?

No, they have no individual will or cause, it's vote blue no matter who. They don't acknowledge the existence of the uniparty or rinos.

On the right, we do have a unity issue, the problem is that far too many "republicans" just bend the knee for democrats and end up effectively being a democrat. There's no reason to even vote or be involved in politics if we're just going to allow both parties to be identical.

Where actual unity is in real conservative causes, such as standing up for the 2A, ending abortion, and securing the border.

What's the point in compromising with people who want you dead, and openly made well funded organizations to laugh at conservatives dying during covid?

That's not the type of people who you compromise with. That's the kind of people you fight. RINOs refuse to acknowledge any of this happened, and happily live oblivious to the vicious animals who want to kill us, thinking if they sit on a moral high horse the beast will come for them last.

I don't think your Xtreme! Republicans (if you could get that little copyright symbol on there it'd be cooler) matter; I don't think they will be influencing any thing soon. I think the RINO faction is too fat and happy wallowing in their mudhole to give them a foothold. Those that you call extreme should find a new home. Unless this unseating of the speaker works and gains some traction.

Maybe the government should draft an actual budget. Then we wouldn't have the CR song and dance. The whole thing is farcical. It took 17 or 18 votes to get McCarthy into the Speaker position. He had to agree to deals that included his ouster should he not adhere to the deals. He then systemically reneged on those deals. This process/outcome was agreed to by McCarthy.

Well, obviously the answer to your question is way over my head but can we start with Ukraine money? And lots of other after that? And then just general pork everywhere, including the overall size of the whole apparatus? Not saying it won’t be painful…

I wasn’t clear in my response quoting MD’s post, sorry.
My response was pointed more towards the fact that for McCarthy to get the votes needed to become speaker he made some promises that he didn’t keep; it was all very open and clear when it happened, and he didn’t keep them. And the fact that people want to gloss over this seems like the worst kind of compromise to me, make a deal with us then turn your back and there’s no consequences.

How do you think McCarthy breaking his deal so badly should be handled? They threatened him over and over and in the end he said “bring it on” and turns out, he’s not the untouchable he thought he was.
Which in my opinion needs to happen to about 600 more people in that swamp. 1 down.
