For $50 and some time spent inletting a stock for a 70 or a 995, you can put a wood stock on a 795.

Lots of examples over there, even a bullpup or 2. I'm waiting on higher capacity mags too, but I'm fairly confident that someone is going to eventually introduce them.

I didn't have to do any inletting at all. I purchased a factory wood stock from Numrich. They do exist. I believe it was $52 shipped. It's rock solid and what I used to shoot my first Rifleman.

Don't get me wrong, I like the 795, but I like the wood stock and the option of the extended mag on the 10/22 help. 10 shots just isn't enough with a 22.

Eh, when you learn to put them all in the same hole, 10 rounds is just fine. I've never really understood the hi-cap .22 mag craze.

I have had both over the years, either one would make a fine .22 plinker, just depends on how many accessories you want access to

Marlin all the way! I've had mine over 20 years; hands down, the most accurate out of the box firearm I own or have ever owned.
