Marlin 39M

I picked up a Marlin Model 39M a few weeks ago. This was made in 1978. Could anyone tell me what the difference is between the 39A and 39M? I have both and they seem the same to me. I would like to know. Thanks

My 1977 vintage 39M is shorter and has a straight or western stock instead of the pistol grip stock.

I think the M designation replaced the older 39A Mountie. The shorter barrel and straight stock are just like the Mountie used to be.

The action is the same but the stocks and bbls should be different. I suppose someone could have swapped the stock but most ppl like the Mountie better. Got Pics?
