Took my neighbor with me to Atterbury today. When we got there it was balmy 9 degrees! It did warm up to 17 by them time we left! Today was the first "free" day I've had in months and likely to have for several months, so I couldn't pass up the chance to hit the range... We started off with handguns and after about an hour we had had enough of pistols. We were shaking so much that the red dot on my mkiii was dancing around like a raver on ecstasy! Yes we tried to dress warm accordingly for the weather, but the cold acted quickly on the hands while shooting! We slid down to the rifle range and let the AR sing, and sign pretty she did!
It was awesome, as was no surprise, we were the only ones there. The RO was cool, and let us run our own show. Not the usual 20 min live fire, 10min break routine. I think more so he just wanted to stay in the heated building, ha!
All in all it was a great day, although my mkiii was having some trigger reset issues. Not sure what that was about, or if it was attributed to the cold?
I did get a good laugh when he stepped up to the firing line with my .357, he cocked the hammer and the light trigger caught him off guard. The shocked smile on his face was priceless! This was coming off his 9mm with a stiff trigger
