Well the idea behind the quote, and I'll lead you to the conclusion is this.
1. God will never give you more than you can handle, because?
2. When you get overwhelmed with problems what does the bible say you are to do? I know the answer I'm just leading here.
So when we become overwhelmed, weighed down and we realize we can't handle things on our own. We are instructed to give it to god, to turn our burden over to him and have faith. Their for and in conclusion yes in a roundabout way god will never give us more than we can handle because we are to realize that god will carry that burden for us. Think back and reread " footprints "
