Sheriff: Deer carcass prompts man to brandish gun, threaten hunter » Evansville Courier & Press
An Evansville man was arrested on an intimidation charge for allegedly threatening a man after getting upset over a deer carcass in his truck, according to a Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office probable cause affidavit.
Raymond E. Myers, 62, was booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail Sunday night. He has since been released on a $1,500 cash bond, officials said.
It happened about 10:15 p.m. when Brian Rice and his two teenage sons stopped at Huck's, 3951 N. Green River Road. One of the sons had shot a deer that night and the carcass was loaded in the back of their truck.
Rice told police Myers walked over as he and his sons were at the rear of the truck, looked at the deer and said "If you want to kill something, kill me."
According to the affidavit, Myers then went back to his car, pulled out a gun in a holster and threatened to kill Rice. Deputies say a woman who was with him shoved his hand back into the trunk, at which point he dropped the gun there.
Myers had a strong smell of alcohol on his breath and was captured on video surveillance drinking alcohol while sitting in his vehicle, the affidavit states. Myers also reportedly has a felony conviction for criminal recklessness that prohibits him from possessing a handgun.
He is facing preliminary charges of intimidation with a weapon, public intoxication, carrying a handgun without a license and carrying a weapon as a felon.
