I subscribe to Quad, Atv Sport, 3 or 4 off-road mags, field and stream, backpacker, time..it was free.., readers digest, and some trade mags.

I am looking to subscribe to some gun mags. Who reads what and what are the best ones for cheap or even better, free? I read all i get cover to cover and still need more information, so I figure my gun info should be raised.

    Thanks

The only subscription I have is to American Rifleman, which came with my NRA membership. I occasionally read some of the articles.

About every other month, I'll pick up a copy of SWAT Magazine at the bookstore. IMO, it is the best of the gun rags currently out there. But I could be biased, because I know some of the guys who write for 'em. ;)

I also like to peruse Shotgun News for the ads, but those don't seem to change very often.

I get American Rifleman. I also am going to subscribe to Guns & Ammo and Shooting Times due to the sheer discount that you get for them.

I get American Rifleman, and America's First Freedom from the NRA, Handgunner and Handloader for gun magazines, I'll buy some other gun mags if they have an article I think looks interesting, or has a columnist I like. I also subscribe to Traditional Bowhunter, Backwoodsman Magazine, Primitive Archer, and Western Horseman. The last one's for sentimental reasons mostly. I don't have the space or time to keep horses anymore. Oh, I also get Townhall Magazine because Michael Yon and Fred Thompson writes for them.

SWAT <-- worth its weight in gold. The title can be misleading, its not a cop publication.

And then I read all of lovemywoods' castoffs. . .

I pay for Car & Driver

Got a gift prescription to Guns & Ammo for Christmas last year...will probably pick that one up on my own when the gift runs out.

Grandma got me a 'script to Reader's Digest several years ago and continues it as needed.

    Only 3 magazines for me!

I used to go to the library back in the home town alomost daily. They knew me by name there, but I do not go to the library here in Indy and I do not mind supporting the companies that make the mags that interest me.

I will say that I am impressed with the amount of reading it seems our members do. It makes sense that we all get along and there is such a knowledge base here on site.

Thanks for the ideas, I think I will pick a couple of these up and see what fits me.
