Hello good ingo people! Seems the only AKs out there under a grand are Maddi. Are these good (reliable) rifles? Or should I steer clear? Thanks in advance for your feedback!
Maadis are good rifles, they are the only rifle made outside of Russia that are made on Russian equipment. The Egyptians bought all of the equipment, tooling and steel from the Russian to setup their manufacturing plant. They even used Russian wood on the original Maadi rifles.
The only ones to steer away from are the MISR 10 and MISR 90.
The MISR-10 normally used single stack mags and if the magwell wasn't opened correctly to be able to accept standard AK mags you could have problems.
The MISR-90 is a mutt, with a Maadi receiver using Norinco MAK-90 parts built by Century, a company well known for being the only people who could mess up an AK build.
The ARM models were the most desirable, but other than what I just mentioned, they are really nice representatives of the AKM.
