I bought my first field grade Springfield from the CMP for $425 a couple years back (around 2006 or 7) and they announced they were out of Garands and wouldn't be getting more. I sold it locally for $1,200 and bought an ACOG for my AR build. I felt bad that I sold a part of history, and when CMP announced they had more Garands (and Carbines) coming in, I ordered one of both.
