    In this thread, he states that he's not a veteran, then in the link you provided, he describes himself as an "ex gunny," and by that, it's a good bet that he's claiming to be a former Gunnery Sergeant.
    Does anyone else see the obvious incongruity here?
    Yeah, there's much more to this particular story than just passing out drunk while "cleaning" a gun.
    Even if his original story about why he got sent in for mental health detention were true, any responsible gun owner will (and did!) tell you that guns and booze don't mix...PERIOD.

    I'm not sure about this story and the cleaning guns thing. It's 4 years old. From reading the posts and the time line I'm pretty sure something really happened and he was really asking for help in this thread. Fully understand that. If someone needs advice on how to appeal a lost LTCH in Indiana and does a general search then they will find their way here eventually. He seemed to be sincere in this thread at least.

    The 'stolen valor' and the attempted illegal firearm purchases are what's the most concerning.
