I almost think that this warrants a call to the Gary PD on Monday asking them to verify and cite under what law that they feel that they can steal a person's legally aquired property. I tried looking for an email address, but it seems that the city of Gary, IN is working on their city webpage.

In Indiana as long as your CCW is valid, you can carry any non class 3 weapon of your choice, purchased from a dealer or from any other law abiding citizen with no inrastate paperwork transfer of any kind.

and where does it say that you cannot carry class III????? i think you will find that it does not and it IS legal to carry a class 3

I don't think he meant you couldn't carry one, just that you can't carry without proper papers ie tax stamp. Where a handgun just requires you ltch, and a non class 3 rifle/shotgun doesn't require any paperwork.
