The perfect response for a tailgater is to just slow down. I've always assumed that they don't have enough power to get around me so I just slow down until they are finally able to go around me! In other words, keep tailgating me and I'll keep slowing down until you back off.

He has those crazy eyes, like everyone else who does crazy crap like tailgating police officers, then attempt to assault said officer after running across 4 lanes of traffic.

For work i drive a Peterbilt 386 daycab and the jake brake is like slamming on the foot brake...comes in handy when no brake lights are seen until they slam on theirs and jerk around you. as for being in my personal vehicle, most of the time, the persons either talking on their phone or texting, so i wait till they take their eyes off the road then slow down, instinct kicks in and they jerk around you, usually with a finger being thrown...

Tsk, tsk. Y'all and your first world problems.

If you simply ignore tailgaters and keep a bigger following distance ahead of your own vehicle you've alleviated your stress and given yourself room to slow down gently so as to save yourself complications involving paperwork.

BeIng peeved at a tailgater or the slow guy in the fast lane is a waste of your time and effort. They don't care and the only person who's blood pressure is up is yours.
