    I want light for my nightstand gun, dont need anything super expensive or fancy. Id like something thats LED and very very bright. What the best bang for the buck

    It will stick out but i would go ahead and get it.

    3. If it does get close and personal and you have to press your gun into the the bad guy then your weapon will still discharge and cycle normaly. I forget the technical term.

    But if you dont have a light and you do have to put your gun into the person to fire the slide will likely be pushing back a little bit, lets say 1/8" or whatnot. When the slide moves back a tiny bit the gun wont fire, the trigger will not work correctly. Which would lead to a gun malfunction, which you do not want to have if you are in a Home defense situation especially up close and personal.

    This is often referred to as a "standoff device".

    I always thought a light was a much better standoff device than those purpose-built ones.

    ive got this cheap but bright setup on my xdm. $1o offset mount off ebay. ultrafire 501a body with a forward clicky switch with a solarforce single mode xml dropin. total cost under $40.
