NOT a tacticool showpiece. This is for multigun competition (M4 carbine copy) and I want something that WORKS, not something that looks like it came out of a video game. I've seen good reviews on the AR-15 Miculek Compensator. Any other ideas that work well?

The Miculek Comp you're looking at is probably the cheapest that you're going to find. It isn't pleasant to shoot next to, but if you're not worried about that I'd say you've found your comp.

That Rainier Arms looks very interesting.

Its what I recently bought and it does a pretty good job. I like it. I know BigCraig runs it on at least one of his as well.

And it costs nothing to try for 90 days. If you don't like it send it back for a refund :yesway:

They work well, and for the money you can't really beat it, especially for a dual role muzzle device. (FH/comp)

My original suggestion was along with a few other people who suggested the SureFire MB556K but now SureFire has a new Muzzle Brake on the market. I can't personally attest to whether or not it's better then the MB556K but I can't imagine a new product would be worse, right? SFMB-556-1/2-28...I'm assuming you're shooting a 5.56 with 1/2 x 28 threads.

After yours and BigCraig's excellent reviews i ordered one of these. I got a chance to try it out today and it is great. I would guess that it cut the felt recoil by at least half. I don't have any other experience with anything other than the A2 flash hider that came stock on my 16" mid-length upper, so take it for what it's worth. :rockwoot:
