I imagine a good chunk of the arrests are drug charges... I know at least half of the people I know that got arrested under the age of 23 were because of pot... the other half was for hoonage.

I'll sound like an old fogey for saying this, but: it's that damn rock-n-roll music the kids are listening to these days...

...well, it's not rock-n-roll. And what they are listening to is mostly symptomatic of what the youth culture has become in modern day America.

Promiscuity. Work ethic. Lack of real education. Absentee parents. Idolatry (Hollywood and profesional gamesplayers). All these things have been around for generations, but nothing like now.

I don't envy being young. I'd rather be an old man and wax nostalgic about the good old days when we listened to the Stooges and spiked our own drinks with Bacardi 151 and later on got sick with the girl that had a shaved head. A teal mohawk on a young man's head was the ultimate insult to the older generation. Now, one wouldn't dare notice such a thing.

That right there is a pretty safe play on the numbers game. Now, you could say you know which ones but once you hit about 16-18...you might be surprised as people do change (sometimes), even if they were little morons.

I bet that most of these arrests were for non-violent activities that ought not be prohibited in the first place.

    Nanny State gone wild.

Rock & Roll has been attributed, at least to a degree, with the collapse of the Soviet Block.

I bet a good chunk of those arrests are for alcohol or marijuana. I was arrested at 19 for minor in possession of alcohol. Nevermind the facts that I entered a contract with the U.S. Marine Corps, was able to enter any type of contract without a co-sign, was able to vote, and was legally accountable as an adult. But, some *******s decided that you may be legally an adult at 18, but you're not responsible enough to drink a beer.

Seriously, I would like to see the breakdown on how many were arrested for nonviolent crimes.

Since it seems many are guessing WHAT these "youth" are getting locked up for, I can tell you from experience that most of our violent crimes are committed by "youth". They are getting more frequent and more violent...latest example is the double murder of the 21/7 yr olds. Both perps are under 23. All for an X-box 360.

The majority of the people I went to high school/college with have received some sort of ticket related to alcohol, not necessarily "arrested" and thrown in jail.

    Mainly minor consumption/public intox/possession

It's kind of ridiculous how many tickets are given out on college campuses!

I'm 25. Served 4 years AD and am now going to college for engineering. I follow the same social guidelines my grandparents did, with some exceptions. I feel I have done everything right in my life (except for some experimental herbs), yet I am constantly grouped in with these punks. There are good young kids out there but we are a hand full unfortunetly. I see more and more kids that are POS going nowhere, no ambitions, and no respect. I strongly believe my generation or the next will be the one to completely ruin America.

I know the pain. I was 19 having a drink in Scotland legally while serving a country that said I couldn't drink under 21.

The leftist entitlement theology running rampant in our country and throughout our basic education system and especially academia has reached a tilting point where everyone now expects to get what they want for free. There is big ol" Uncle Sam and he will take care of all my needs and desires. I would like to see anyone getting govt assistance picking up trash along the road, or working the gate at a state or nat. park, or required to do community service for that money. Maybe then they would realize that money comes from the tax payers and not out of thin air. Gone from this country is the idea that you can get ahead by hard work and ambition. Too many people want to "collect" from other peoples' successes. The complainer in chief being the biggest supporter with his "all Americans must pay a fair share!" What is a fair share anyway and what about all those people not paying ANY share? It's time for it to end!
