JL Watters in Bloomington has some and rei.com is a super choice for climbing gear (I use mine for mountaineering outings) if you can't get what you want locally.

... and when using sterno, how long does it take to boil a quart of water at 6000' when the temp is 15 F? Anyone?

Using a wind screen and a lid on the water container?

What was the water temp before flame ignition?

At 6000ft water will boil at around 98 F.

Then what ? Save the can so you can put some other fuel in it and use it again .

I don't know about the 6000 ft thing , but down here there's always something to burn .

6000 ft is not out of the ordinary; Albuquerque NM is just shy of 6000. If the terrain receives precipitation or has visible ground water, therre is normally plenty to burn.

The issue of this post is Price, Location, and Size.

I just thought I would inject some humor.

Besides, I like hauling 100lbs of light-weight, high-speed gear just like anyone else!:rockwoot:

    I don't know;)

    What's wrong with hard potatoes!:D

Tell us your 6000 ft story!

Would not be the first time I have eaten raw foods...

The main reason for me wanting a multifuel stove is the fact I can find fuel almost anywhere in the world. Beings I still work for "our uncle"... Where I am going to next has very little laying around to burn. Hence the need for a stove.

Never had a problem heating anything yet at 6000 feet. 12000 is another story though... ;)

Is there any retailer in Indiana that deals with light camping equipment and supplies. Specifically MSR Stoves.

    Thanks

Now that you've brought it up, I went searching, and there are quite a few used models on e-bay, $25-45 plus shipping. I ordered a used one out of New Mexico for a spare for $47 to my door.

Thanks 6birds! I replaced mine last week with a whisperlite international while I was in Bloomington at JL Waters.
