5 bean bag rounds from 6 to 8 feet away, when optimal shooting distance was listed at 15 feet? Nice shootin' Barney.

I doubt a 95 year old nursing home patient could have presented much of a deadly threat, even with a knife. Surely not enough of a threat to warrant five bean bag rounds.

Close the door and let him fume. He'll calm down eventually.

Bean bag rounds are the force equivalent to getting hit with a major league fast ball. They can be VERY lethal if shot placement is not proper. A hit over the heart can stop it. A hit to the head can kill as well. For "safe" effect the shot placement should be to the belly or the pelvis. I haven't read the article, just commenting on the application of bean bag rounds. I used to be certified in them.

Jeez, back in the Corps going through ITR, we were told that using blanks in the Garands we could kill up to 15 feet, and that was the old crimped in piece of card board. Reckless Homicide is the phrase to be used.

Hard to tell what? Do you hate self-defense all of a sudden?

Yes, all criminal cases are hard to tell, by design. You know that Constitutional due process thing that you anarchists hate so much.

Reck is tough as the prosecution has to define the standard and deviation from the standard.

The perp had a knife. He threatened officers. Refused to surrender.

Maybe self-defense comes into play (I doubt it). More likely a defense to the definition of recklessness.

Why didn't I hear this same reservation when you decided that the other officers who shot a knife-wielding man in the back were defending themselves?
