I did this one all on my own after watching some videos online! It is a Rock Island frame from Sarco, Ed Brown stainless rebuild kit, Caspian slide and internals. Ed Brown combat trigger and hammer match kit. I put a buffer in this one and I like how it recoils, very smooth! When I got the extended slide stop, thumb safety, and beaver tail grip safety in the mail they were very crude with forging marks etc... So had to spend some time with the Dremel! Also did some needed polishing here and there on the feed ramp, etc... Still debating on polishing the entire barrel, might just order a stainless barrel.

That is one sexy 1911. Mind if I ask what it set you back to build it?

Also when you build guns, do they still have SN's on them?

Yes when you order a frame from Sarco, or Brownells etc... it has the serial numbers stamped and whatever else the mfr puts on there. I ordered the rebuild kit from Brownells, and the entire slide unit, and most misc parts came from good ol Ebay! Depending on the quality frame you get and add ons they range from $150 to $400 and up, slide was $320, If you add up all the parts, and I have 10 to 20 hours in assembly, polishing, fitting, learning to build one!! etc...If you wanted to build a no frills, stamped steel, it would probably range from $6 to $700, I am not sure of the price but Brownells, and Sarco, sell a complete kit, frame and everything, its around $8 or $900 I think...

right on thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

again i have to say i love that 1911. The silver slide lock against the black finish is just pure beauty.

It's not hard, I read some forums and there are a lot of videos out there!

thats the thing, alot of folks ive ask said "only a professional gunsmith can fit 1911 parts" my problem with this is all professional gunsmiths were amature's at one point and time. they didn't pop out of the woom experts. ive dont all the machining and built custom bolt guns myself ive just never done any pistol work besides drop in parts. ill keep ya posted
