A 20' nitro will be fine. Just use good judgement. Right now the fish are staging around the mouth of the Maumee River. They are already pounding out limits daily on purple pill head jigs. Most fish are around 3 lbs. You can get away with a small boat right now in Maumee bay right now becuase it is protected from wind unless it's coming out of the north. North wind is always bad for this area anyway because it muddies up the water. It's hard to get on a good bite with the muddy water. I have fished bass tournaments on Erie for 10 years out of a 21' Triton with a 225 optimax and never worried, just used good sense. One thing to remember is they do have different laws on the great lakes as far as what you need to have on board your vessle for safety.
