She did a good job, everything considered. I heard that she said that she tried to fire the pistol a few times before getting it to discharge. This is why we have licenses to carry.

Yikes. I wonder if the round failed to fire at first, or she was really having trouble getting the safety off?

Either issues getting the safety off or a bad primer that took multiple strikes would be my guess. I suppose, depending on circumstances, it could have been slightly out of battery as well.

Good for her! Another :yesway: for the good guys. It'll be interesting to see if there will be any legal action or civil action taken against the would be victim.

I doubt it. The alleged perpetrator is a convicted felon. The lady is recovering from injuries.

    A holler in Kentucky
I was about to get on that very same elevator about a year ago, some nice individual had took a huge dump in there, I took the stairs. I also had my EDC unholstered and in my coat pocket, in my hand, ready to draw and fire, or fire through my coat if necessary. That place is a sewer after dark, I can't imagine how many people are robbed in there and it never makes the headlines. The city of Louisville should be ashamed that such a place exists in their city.

    Gtown-ish
I heard on the news last night that she plans to speak out after she heals from her physical injuries, and the prosecutors have finished the investigation. The implication of that seemed to imply that she'd speak out after it's clear she wouldn't face any charges.

The report said that she fired two shots. One while they were fighting--she shot him in the neck--and one when the attacker started to flee--she shot him in the ass. She had stated that was sure he was going to kill her. Even though one shot was when he was fleeing, I can't imagine that they'd bring charges against her.

I don't have it in front of me, but I recall one of the articles saying she thought he was turning to come back and she struck him in the back (side, apparently). That article didn't make clear she shot him, I though she kicked him, but I'm cool with either. Given the totality of the circumstances, I'd give her the benefit of the doubt about "fleeing."

    Could be anywhere
Guy follows out of food court...gets on the same elevator...gets off on the same floor...that girl needs to have her spidey sense checked. Standing with her back to a stranger on the elevator while concentrating on her phone she's lucky he didn't take her out there since he knew what floor she was going to and the car keys would have identified the car. Glad it ended 'okay' for her, but she should have been ready for the perp long before she was attacked.
